https://twitter.com/nehemiahchowdar/status/1306879126285025281Taking a dig at competition is a fairly common practice in the tech world. Brands find innovative ways to highlight each others’ shortcomings.
Now, joining the bandwagon is Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma, who in a response to a query by a Google Pay user turned customer support executive.
Trying to figure out what the error “XV” meant on Google Pay, Twitter user Aparna Jain said that she could not find it online. Responding to this, Sharma suggested she move to Paytm as she won’t have to post such support requests. “Bonus: CEO level customer support,” he added.
@Aparna @GooglePayIndia Pls try @Paytm and you won’t post such support requests. Yes ! You can pay directly from ba… https://t.co/FyXetJwU5v

This isn’t the first time Sharma has taken a dig at the Sundar-Pichai led search giant. Last year, he accused Google of abusing its monopoly to unfairly gain customers for its own payments business after Google removed Paytm app from its Play Store for s brief time.
Sharma claimed that action against Paytm happened even before they were served a notice. He accused Google of a high-handed behaviour where it acted as the “judge, jury, executioner and beneficiary.” “They have the power, and they are definitely harassing us,” Sharma told TOI as he claimed that Google took the “unprecedented step” only to stop Paytm from acquiring new customers in order to help other players in the payments market, including their own app. “You are benefiting yourself,” he charged at Google.
In his tweet, Sharma had quoted Mahatma Gandhi and said, “Be the app that you want to see in the world. Condition: If only Google let’s you be. #GandhiJayanti.”
